Section 1: Description
I felt privileged to be among the people who attended the seminar for masterâs degree students. The seminar basically expounded on the techniques of making a good research paper and how to pass a masterâs degree. The speaker explained various techniques used to come up with a good research paper, how to prepare for research and the presentation format. The speaker also explained the process used in evaluating research papers, such as peer reviewing. He also explained what we can do as students of masterâs degree in order to pass; our research work should meet the standards of our supervisors, directors of our program and our examiners. Additionally, our attention should be focused on thoroughness, creativity and imagination. The speaker also delved on the importance of sharing responsibilities and appreciating each othersâ work. Lastly, the speaker explained that our masterâs degree will be evaluated by examining whether all the holistic and detailed issues have been addressed.
Section 2: Reflection
During the seminar, the speaker explained that the mind of the researcher should be set before commencing on research. This can be achieved by getting the basics right, which include aim of the research, research method and the presence of a privileged starting point. The speaker added that in the research, the arguments should be logically sound, scholarly in nature and additive to the body of knowledge.
During the seminar I understood the difference between the different levels of education. Undergraduate education helps student to acquire a lot of information while postgraduate education is much more about learning of processes and methods of working. Precisely, master degree facilitates individual development. I agreed with the speaker from my personal experience that research is fundamental to learning and it is the best form of learning as it occurs through self-discovery. I have gathered most of my knowledge mainly from research activities compared to other sources of knowledge.
The seminar helped me to identify one key aspect of writing a good research, which is involving other people with similar interests in my field of study through strategies such as group discussion, debating with friends, attending conferences and meeting students from other universities. These groups of people possess important information and ideas, which may be relevant and important to my research. The speaker pointed out that a masterâs research is more than a data collection exercise and that researcher should be familiar with the subject material and be able to identify the main authorities in the subject area and their thoughts about the issues that the researcher is interested in.
The speaker also discussed how research has developed over time and how it has enabled people to have maturity towards knowledge. Research has helped people to become more tolerant to science since they now understand that they do not need to be in a laboratory to do science or statistics.
Section 3: Relevance to the Course
I am currently studying International Business at Masterâs level and this seminar is relevant to my course. The seminar has equipped me with research skills for writing an effective master thesis that will demonstrate my ability to scrutinize complex problems within the international domain independently at an academic level. These research skills will also help me to carry out good research on business strategies and the emerging issues in international business such as the rise of emerging economies and how they affect businesses. Similarly, to make critical and effective decisions about international business ventures, research is very crucial. Good research skills will help me to access relevant and accurate information, which will reduce the uncertainties associated with new international ventures and thus reducing the chances of making decisions based on erroneous assumptions.

The speech was brilliant, professional, practical and will be of great use in my research work, studies and also in my future job. I was personally struggling with my research work due to the lack of fundamentals of carrying out a good research but now I have found the possibilities through the speech. This seminar has rea
