Introduction
For this assignment, you are required to research Minnesota State Law in the area of delivering life and health insurance
coverage to purchasers. Specifically, your report should answer the following questions:
1) What are agent licensing requirements to sell life and health insurance in the State of Minnesota?
2) What are state life and health insurance laws which protect insured against illegal acts by life and health insurance
companies?
3) List and describe laws that govern areas such as; a) insurance waivers, 2) preexisting
conditions, 3) late premium
payments, nonforfeiture
of policies, 5) reinstatement of policies without loss of benefits, 6) insured’s rights to information, 7)
sharing of personal health information with credit bureaus, 8) other state laws which are designed to protect consumers in
the areas of life and health insurance (there are many more).
4) Describe the major provisions of the new MinnesotaCare Health Plan, which was created as part of the Affordable
Health Care Act (Obama Care). Include information on the following: why was it created? how is it funded? how does it
work? why is it needed? who are the intended users? what are sample premiums? what are eligibility requirements? in
your opinion, does it work and will it work in the future?

margins, with 12 pt. font and in Times New Roman. A minimum of three solid references are required to be used for this
assignment with each reference cited in the text of your report and on a separate reference page (not counted in the 4 6
page length of your report). You report must also include a title page at the beginning of your report, identifying you as the
author of the report. List the sources of your references including any state law or rule numbers you use to prepare your
report.
