The purpose of this assignment is for you to critically analyse and integrate a number of key organisational behavioural concepts relevant to organisational effectiveness.
You are required to undertake research on the views and opinions put forward by Henry Mintzberg in the reading ‘Rebuilding Companies as Communities’ and write an essay on your analysis of the research.
You are required to undertake the following in your research:
- Critically analyse and summarise Mintzbergs article, referring directly to the following:
- The strengths/weakness of his arguments and his underlying assumptions,
- His research methods and its limitations
- The applicability of his approach
- Explain how his approach as outlined in the reading relates to and would impact on the organisational behaviour concepts of:
- organisational commitment
- organisational decision making
- Evaluate Mintzbergs’ views and opinions with respect to improving organisational effectiveness as measured by the four perspectives of organisational effectiveness outlined in your text.
You are required to undertake the following in conducting your analysis:
- Refer to and apply relevant models, concepts, theories and literature in the field of organisational behaviour.
- You are expected to incorporate relevant research and theory from the broader organisational behaviour literature (e.g., journal articles and/or books), not just the text and course materials (in addition to ‘other’ sources, your reference list should include a minimum of three journal articles)
